Bristol Cottage Bird House Blue - Infuse your yard with a touch of the northeast coast using the Blue Bristol Cottage Bird House. Blue and red hues are accented by white trim and an unfinished, wood roof, reminiscent of coastal, New England homes. Painted white railings and columns on the home's front porch support its roof and are adorned with decorative woodwork, making for an attention grabbing piece. The shingled flat roof above the porch becomes a gabled roof with a dormer on its front side, which features one of the five windows present on the shelter. Two windows below complement the red imitation door, while one on each side of the house have imitation flower boxes holding faux red flowers. A 1.25" diameter entry hole rests on one side of the nest box, providing access to small songbirds, and a significant panel on the rear of the home is removable for cleaning and maintenance. A mesh ladder inside the spacious, unpainted chamber helps fledglings climb and leave the roost. A single hole in the center of the base assists with drainage of accumulating moisture inside the home while three holes just beneath the porch roof allow for adequate ventilation and a comfortable nesting destination. The house can be mounted against a wall or post using the 5.75" long, dog-eared plank that swivels upward, or can be attached to a mounting plate (not included) for placement atop a post or pole. Should you wish to preserve the finish (paint) on this home, you should select a polyurethane product that is recommended for marine use (UV rated) that will not turn the white paint yellow. You should expect that once left outdoors, the product will weather and require refinishing.
