Description

The American Robin is found throughout North America, from extreme northern Canada and as far south as Guatemala. This common and well-known bird is noted for its habit of feeding in lawns where it finds earthworms (by sight, not sound), and for its cheery voice. Robins are often one of the first birds to sing in the morning. They prefer to build their nest in the crotch of a tree. If you don't have an appropriate tree, you can offer a nesting platform. Pick a spot six feet or higher up on a shaded tree trunk or under the overhang of a shed or porch. Creating a "mud puddle" nearby offers further excitement, as robins use mud to line their nests.

Some species of birds prefer an open-front box. Song sparrows, catbirds, thrashers, phoebes, robins and barn swallows like to raise their families in a platform nest. Our Robin Nesting Perch may be placed under the eaves, inside a garage or barn, or on the side of a building. This nesting perch offers protection from the elements and requires no maintenance. Suitable for Gray Catbirds (Dumetella carolinensis), American Robins (Turdus migratorius) and Barn Swallows (Hirundo rustica).

Quality eastern white pine construction.
