This gorgeous historic birdhouse is a spot-on replica of the famous Montauk Point Light located at the easternmost point of Long Island, New York. Construction of the lighthouse was authorized by none other than President George Washington and bears the distinction of being the first public works project of the United States. The infamous pirate Captain Kidd is said to have buried treasure at the foot of the lighthouse, but it's yet to be found......

This red and white lighthouse is a fully functional birdhouse featuring two nest boxes with 1 1/4" openings (one in the lighthouse iteself and one in the keeper's cottage), a removable back for yearly cleaning, drainage, ventilation and unpainted interiors. Post or pole mount. The entire structure is built upon a river stone foundation and a custom-fit mounting plate makes installation a snap!

Using only the finest materials available with a painstaking attention to detail, this martin house is handcrafted of kiln-dried hardwood, exterior grade plyboard, and non-toxic oil-based exterior paint. With proper maintenance, this bird house will provide years of enjoyment for both you and your feathered friends. The base of the house removes for convenient seasonal cleanouts.

Note: This item has been finished with a non-toxic pure white oil-based paint. To preserve the natural beauty, we recommend applying a non-yellowing polyurethane finish over the paint.

Climate and the elements will weather the house and change its appearance over time; however, weathering will add to the house’s natural charm without compromising its function.
